Boise State women’s soccer team to begin 2024 season against Portland State

The Boise State women’s soccer team begins its 2024 season tonight with a home game against Portland State.

After finishing last season with a record of 8-2-1 in the Mountain West Conference and an overall record of 11-4-6, the Broncos are looking to build on their success, which included a trip to the semifinals of the Mountain West Championship.

Boise State has dominated the matchup against Portland State in the past. In their last 14 meetings, the Broncos have a record of 11-1-2 and have won all four of their previous meetings in Boise.

The fans are excited about the start of the season.

“I’m so excited to see Boise State play again,” said Joe McCabe, a parent and fan. “They had a great season last year, their spring was really good and the anticipation for this group is fantastic. I expect a lot of goals this year – it’s going to be fantastic.”

The Broncos were picked to finish third in the Mountain West preseason poll, tied with Colorado State. Key players Genevieve Crenshaw, Carly Cross and Morgan Padour were all named to the 2024 Mountain West Women’s Soccer Watch List. Crenshaw is one of only two goalkeepers on the list, which includes 36 female athletes.

With a talented roster, the Boise State women’s soccer team is aiming for a championship this year. Their next home game is next Friday, August 23, against Idaho State.
