Boise firefighters help fight Snag Fire near Cascade

A series of wildfires continue to rage in the Boise National Forest, from Garden Valley to Cascade.

Resources from around the world were deployed to fight these various fires, some of which were caused by lightning strikes.

Boise firefighters were deployed to assist near Cascade. Boise Fire’s Brush 12 was sent to assist with the Boulder Fire, currently believed to be burning just over 1,900 acres south of the Cascade Reservoir, but was reassigned to the much larger Snag Fire to help protect the Warm Lake area.

The Snag Fire is currently estimated to be over 19,560 acres in extent and is 0% contained.

The latest information from authorities on the closures is: “The Warm Lake Highway is closed at the Horsethief Road intersection eastbound to Warm Lake and at the Johnson Creek Road intersection westbound to Warm Lake. Access will be permitted to Scott Valley residents. Anyone currently planning to leave via the Warm Lake Highway will need to use an alternate evacuation route should it become necessary to leave the area. Please see the attached map for safe routes (highlighted in yellow). An evacuation order marked “stand by” remains in effect for residents of Zone 1 around Warm Lake and Zone 2 around Horsethief Reservoir.
