Boise fire near Orleans burns 30 acres; evacuation order in effect | Lost Coast Outpost

Press release from Six Rivers National Forest:

The Boise Fire is located about 5 miles southeast of Orleans in the Boise Creek drainage area in Humboldt County. The fire is about 75 acres in size, 0% contained, and was reported around 9:30 a.m. this morning. The cause is currently under investigation.


The fire is spreading moderately, with some spots visible in the upper part of the fire. Fire activity includes some flame formation and fire crown formation.


Firefighters are taking a direct approach and employing an aggressive and comprehensive firefighting strategy. Multiple ground and air resources are on scene supporting the fire, including U.S. Forest Service crews and tribal partners.


Evacuations


Evacuation orders and warnings are in effect. For current evacuation information, contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of Emergency Services.

Fire safety restrictions


Forest fire restrictions also went into effect on July 12. Campfires and cooking fires are restricted to the developed areas listed in the Forest Ordinance found at this link.


There are also restrictions on smoking, welding and operating an internal combustion engine.
