“The film will use special effects at every opportunity, from the puppet itself to the film’s title card,” director Rhys Frake-Waterfield told Bloody Disgusting. “As my budget is significantly higher than my last film, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, I want to make this the ultimate Pinocchio horror film and my best film yet.”

Pinocchio: Unstrung is set to begin filming in October, with a worldwide release planned for 2025. Frake-Waterfield says casting information is “coming soon.” Although the film shares some similarities with the ’90s horror adaptation Pinocchio’s Revenge, the two films do not appear to be connected.

The Twisted Childhood Universe was created by Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios and includes other horror tales such as Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey and its sequel, as well as the yet-to-be-released Bambi – The Reckoning. Each of them is based on classic storylines that have fallen into the public domain. More films are in the works, including Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare and an Avengers-like crossover called Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble.

Say what you will about the Poohniverse, but Jagged Edge and ITN are determined to put an end to it. While the team continues to prepare for the future and work on projects like Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3, it is expects to increase its budget and introduce even more characters into the mix. While we wait for Pinocchio: Unstrung to hit theaters, be sure to read our reviews of both films Blood and Honey. We have the first a 4/10 but more impressive was the sequel that we a 6/10.
