Blake Shelton is a guest picker on ESPN’s “College GameDay” for Oklahoma-Tennessee

The Oklahoma football team faces a tough home game against Tennessee on Saturday, and ESPN’s “College GameDay” is coming to Norman for the game.

“GameDay,” which selects a celebrity guest for the show every Saturday, announced Thursday that a famous Oklahoma man has been nominated for a role on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

Country music star Blake Shelton, who was born in Ada and lives near Tishomingo, will appear on ESPN’s pregame show Saturday night before No. 13 Oklahoma’s game against No. 7 Tennessee. Shelton is also known for his role as a coach on NBC’s “The Voice,” where he met his now-wife, Gwen Stefani, a pop star.

Shelton told McAfee he is an Oklahoma fan as well as an Oklahoma State fan and is even rooting for Tulsa. However, viewers can expect Shelton to nominate the Sooners to beat the Vols in their first-ever SEC game.

GameDay has not been held in Norman since 2020, when fans were not allowed due to COVID-19. The last time College GameDay was held entirely in Norman was in 2012, when Oklahoma lost to eventual national runner-up Notre Dame, 30-13.
