BLADE is not listed among Marvel’s 2025 releases in Disney CEO Bob Iger’s earnings call for the third quarter of fiscal 2024

Just last week, Marvel Studios adjusted its release schedule and removed an untitled July 24, 2026 film from its slate. But surprisingly bladeThe film that seems to be associated with the most uncertainty remained unchanged.

But today, Disney CEO Bob Iger pointed to a number of upcoming Marvel projects in his third-quarter fiscal 2024 earnings call to keep investors optimistic about the company’s upcoming financial performance, listing all but one of Marvel’s 2025 projects.

A joint statement from Iger and Disney CFO Hugh Johnston said: “Looking ahead to our upcoming cinematic slate, we’re excited to bring audiences a range of titles that expand on our beloved franchises and bring these stories to life in imaginative new ways. Later in the year we’ll see the highly anticipated releases of Moana 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King..”

The statement continues: “In 2025, our cinema program remains just as extensive with Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, Fantastic Four: First Steps, Zootopia 2 and Avatar 3. And in 2026, we’re looking forward to Avengers: Doomsday, a new Star Wars film with the Mandalorian and Grogu, and Toy Story 5 – the first Toy Story film since 2019.

As you can see, every MCU release from 2025 is mentioned by Iger and Johnston, with the exception of blade.

The reboot of Wesley Snipes’ superhero vampire film was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, when Mahershala Ali took the stage at the end of the studio’s presentation in Hall H.

Since then, the project has lost two directors and gone through four (known) script rewrites. Ali is still set to play the lead role, but Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre have since dropped out.

Mia Goth is still set to appear and is rumored to play Lillith, an ancient vampire who needs the Daywalker’s blood for a nefarious purpose. But instead of Blade, she has her sights set on his daughter.

In earlier drafts, the film’s action was set in the 1920s, but after numerous revisions, the action is now set in the present day.

blade was originally planned as a Phase 5 film, but was pushed back to November 7, 2025 due to the aforementioned script issues and the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike in 2023 and is now a Phase 6 release.

In other related news, Snipes Blade returns in Deadpool and Wolverineand explains (seemingly to the audience): “There was only one blade and there will always be only one blade.”

Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool then looks knowingly into the camera, seemingly acknowledging the film’s troubled production. Since then, Reynolds has been pushing for Snipes’ Blade to deserve its own Logan-like send-off.

On Instagramhe wrote, “There is no Fox Marvel Universe or MCU without Blade creating a market first. He’s Marvel Daddy. Please share for a Logan-like sendoff.
