BGSU women celebrate 100th anniversary – BG Independent News

By UNIVERSITY WOMEN OF BGSU

Bowling Green State University President Rodney Rogers and BGSU Commissioner Sandra Earle hosted a special brunch at University House to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the university.th University Women of BGSU’s 15th anniversary on August 17. The brunch was open to all University Women of BGSU members and prospective members.

The brunch marked the kickoff of the 2024–25 year for University Women, whose official goals are to foster a friendly and cooperative spirit within its diverse membership and to inspire a sustained interest in the university and surrounding communities.

In addition, the group strives to encourage and support part-time or full-time female students who are pursuing non-traditional studies through our scholarship funding. Four students received $2,000 scholarships for 2024-25 and one received $1,000 scholarships.

The University Women of BGSU provide social fellowship and fun for its members, primarily through various small interest groups. These groups typically meet monthly during the academic year. The entire group meets for scheduled social events throughout the year, to which spouses and friends who wish to join are welcome.

Special interest groups include Afternoon Bridge, Antiques and Collectibles, Docent-Led Tours at the Toledo Museum of Art, Film Groups, BGSU Arts Group, Book Groups, Community Service, Craft Group, Morning Blooms Gardening Group, Knitting/Crochet (Knitwits), Lunch Bunch, Film Discussion Groups, Social Group (Expresso Yourself), TOOTs (The Out of Tuners), Travelers Group, and Thinkers – a discussion group. There is truly something for everyone. Information about the interest groups can be found on the website at universitywomenofbgsu.com.

University Women of BGSU is open to all women and new members are welcome. For more information or to download the membership form, visit universitywomenofbgsu.com. Leading the group this year is President Lee Field-Starks.
