A 48-year-old teacher was arrested today at Spanaway Lake High School on suspicion of voyeurism and possession of child pornography.

According to Sergeant Darren Moss of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, no one was injured during the arrest.

Officers and detectives went to the school and arrested him when he was in class and there were no students in his class. They arrested him and also served a search warrant for his home, Moss said.

According to a press release from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, officers received a report of a voyeurism incident in the Bonney Lake area on August 28. They learned that a 14-year-old girl had found a USB plug in a charger with a small camera inside it in the bathroom she shares with her 11-year-old sister.

Investigators found several photos and videos on the device, including footage of the 14-year-old girl and another friend who was also 14. They had reasonable suspicion to arrest the girls’ stepfather, who lived in the house and was also employed at Spanaway Lake High School, the press release said.

The Sheriff’s Department currently has no information that anyone at the school has been a victim of the man’s alleged crimes, the press release said.

The man was taken to the Pierce County Jail and the case is currently under investigation.
