Ben Affleck tries to stay busy amid speculation about a divorce from Jennifer Lopez.
The 51-year-old “Argo” director is reportedly throwing himself into work and family life to stay in good spirits despite his marital problems.
“Ben is doing well,” a source told People, adding that the Oscar winner has been working a lot this summer. “He thrives when he’s busy, and he’s been working nonstop.”
His children have also been a great help to the actor during this difficult time. “The children are still off school,” said the source. “He spends a lot of time with them too.” Affleck has three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner – Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
“It hasn’t been the easiest summer for him either,” the source told the outlet. “He’s just trying to stay focused and make each day the best he can.”
The star has reportedly not yet moved into the $20.5 million Los Angeles home he purchased in late July, the insider claimed, adding that he is still staying at his rental property in LA’s Brentwood neighborhood.
Affleck has been living in the rental since at least May, when it was first reported that he and Lopez were living separately, despite purchasing a $60.8 million Beverly Hills mansion together in 2023. In July, they put the house up for sale, asking $68 million.
Lopez is currently on the West Coast looking for a home of her own in LA so she can “start fresh” while she and Affleck “move on separately,” according to People.
Affleck and Lopez began dating in 2002 and got engaged that same year. They split in 2004 but rekindled their romance in 2021 and married in 2022.
Although the couple has not officially confirmed their split, they spent most of the summer apart, including their second wedding anniversary on July 17 and Lopez’s 55th birthday. Lopez canceled a planned world tour and spent the last two months primarily traveling around Europe and the Hamptons.
According to TMZ, Affleck and Lopez are no longer in contact and their managers are reportedly working out the details of their divorce.
However, things could get awkward in the near future, as a film the couple worked on together is set to hit theaters in the fall.
Lopez stars in the Affleck-produced film “Unstoppable,” which premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
The sports biopic tells the true story of wrestler Anthony Robles, who won the 2011 NCAA national singles championship despite being born with only one leg.
