Keoghan is the latest name to join the cast of Peaky Blinders The film is a casting that will surely make fans excited to see the series receive the appropriate cinematic treatment on the streaming platform.



According to Deadline, Keoghan is now officially joining the Peaky Blinders movie on Netflix alongside Cillian Murphy. The actor joins the cast of Rebecca Ferguson, whose participation in the project was officially announced last month. No further details have been revealed about who Keoghan will play, as both the actor’s and Ferguson’s roles are being kept top secret. However, given his previous roles, he is sure to bring plenty of drama (and scares) to the plot. Tom Harper, who has directed several episodes of the series, Peaky Blinders series, will lead the project.



The Peaky Blinders movie brings back key creatives from the series

Murphy will reprise the role of Tommy Shelby in the Netflix film, which was officially greenlit in June. Series creator Steven Knight is writing the project, and while exact plot details are still under wraps, Knight has previously stated that the film will be set during World War II. Knight will also share producing credits with Murphy, Caryn Mandabach and Guy Heeley, while executive producers include Harper, David Koose, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason.


Peaky Blinders is a crime drama set in Birmingham, England, and follows the criminal gang Peaky Blinders as they return to their hometown after World War I. The Peaky Blinders are a fictional gang, but are loosely based on a real-life urban youth gang that ran amok in the city starting in the 1880s. Murphy’s character Tommy Shelby leads the series as the protagonist and leader of the Peaky Blinders. The series featured a sprawling, star-studded cast during its run, including Tom Hardy, Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle, Joe Cole, Sam Neill, Adrien Brody, Anya Taylor-Joy, Annabelle Wallis, Finn Cole, and many more.

The series first aired on BBC Two in 2013 before moving to BBC One for the fifth and sixth seasons. The series became even more popular after Netflix acquired the rights to release the series in the US through a deal with the Weinstein Company and Endemol. The sixth and final season was set to air in 2022, but towards the end of the series, plans for a film were discussed. Now it’s becoming a reality, with filming set to begin in September.


Keoghan, for his part, has become one of the best actors of his generation, receiving an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Last Man (2022). The Banshees of Inisherinalongside a Golden Globe nomination and a BAFTA Award win. He also received Golden Globe and BAFTA Award nominations for Best Actor for his role in 2023’s SaltburnHis other notable achievements include The killing of a sacred deer, The Green Knight, The Batman, And Eternal, The actor is expected to play the role of the Joker in Batman: Part II.
