Last October, the Barça women’s football team hosted the candidates for the America’s Cup for Women and Youths, which this year takes place in Barcelona together with the senior event, at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The hospitality was reciprocated when the footballers visited them at their base on the Moll d’Espanyain Port Vell.

This was the first time the footballers visited the home of Alinghi Red Bull Racing. Ingrid Engen, Fridolina Rolfö, Esmee Brugts And Ellie Roebuck were all there to see how the sailing team operated their AC75. It was a wonderful opportunity for athletes from two very different sports to exchange ideas and, at the end, the Barça stars had the opportunity to try out the AC40 simulator.

Both athletes compete at the highest level in their respective disciplines and naturally had a lot to talk about, including the impressive development of women’s sport in recent years. An extremely productive meeting ended with the exchange of gifts and a group photo session.

This meeting was part of the activities planned by Alinghi Red Bull Racing to build a stronger bond with sporting talent locally and across the country. Of course, the victorious women’s football team, based in the same city, could not be missing from this program.
