It’s time for some more welding, as that’s an overarching theme on this build, but this time it’s a three day thrash weekend with loads of Karl’s buddies coming over to help finish up the ramp truck and make some major progress. A special payload is already planned for the first run, but there’s still a lot of work to be done before we can get started. Check out the latest progress!

Watch the welding of the bed begin in this video of the ramp truck conversion where Make It Kustom and HalfAss Kustoms came together to beat up Karl’s Make It Kustom rig! The custom air suspension and steering are already done and Karl designed and installed dual shocks on each front corner to make the thing handle perfectly. It also got some sway bar front and rear because otherwise the thing might lean on its side on a highway onramp. The front got custom mounts for the stock GM sway bar that came with the Topkick chassis. The back got something really simple but totally custom. Now it’s time for the dual rear shocks. Watch how Karl tackles it and what he needs to consider before he can just start cutting and welding.

This project has been fun to follow. It started when Brent from Halfass Kustoms and Karl from Make It Kustom came together to convert Karl’s ramp truck project into an LS-swapped and air-ride equipped cab and chassis in just a few days. Their goal for this project was to get it running and do a burnout before Brent had to return home to Manitoba. That’s a lot of work in just 4 days, but they got it done! But a lot has happened since then!
