Baltimore Ravens LB active after terrible eye injury

Somehow, Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy is active in Sunday’s home opener against the Las Vegas Raiders.

In the third quarter of the season opener on September 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs, Van Noy suffered a fractured eye socket and lay on the ground for several minutes before going to the locker room. Miraculously, he is back in the lineup just 10 days later and hasn’t missed a single game. On Friday, he participated in practice for the first time since his injury, albeit in a limited capacity.

Unfortunately, other Ravens weren’t quite as lucky as Van Noy. The full list of inactive players is as follows:

Two of those players, Wiggins and Isaac, have been on the injured list all week. Wiggins was already ruled out after suffering a neck injury in a car accident earlier this week, while Isaac was listed as questionable as he continues to deal with a hamstring injury. The other five players are healthy and happy.

Interestingly, six of the seven inactive players are rookies, with Aumave-Laulu being the only exception. It was always clear that rookies would have a hard time making an impact on a very strong roster, but that almost every Ravens draft pick this year has been declared inactive is still surprising.

In the meantime, here are the Raiders’ inactive players:

Of those players, Wilson is by far the most notable. Drafted No. 7 last year, Wilson suffered a knee injury in the season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers last week.

Kickoff at M&T Bank Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET, just over an hour away.
