“Baker Mayfield was slow to leave the field after that final drive,” Amazon sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung said shortly after the incident. “You saw him limping on his right knee. Since then, he’s been back on the bench, with his head in the iPad and sitting next to Liam Coen, his offensive coordinator.

“He just stood up for the first time. He refused any medical attention and just took a few steps up and down. Doesn’t look as serious as it could have been when he was first hit.”

Hartung’s update came as Atlanta drove down the field. Kirk Cousins attached to Darnell Mooney on fourth down for a touchdown before kicking the ball back to Tampa Bay. There was no question who would be at quarterback when Mayfield took the field back.

Mayfield completed 17 of his 21 passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns. The Buccaneers were well positioned on offense and have only punted once so far on the night. A great performance in a huge NFC South game against the Falcons.

Hopefully Mayfield is no longer limping and manages to finish the game. If not, Kyle Trask will be listed as the current Tampa Bay backup. Given the number of goals scored by both offenses, he will be needed further down the stretch.
