Jenn Tran Reunion with the runner-up Marcus Shoberg during the live recording of The Bachelorette Final on Tuesday, September 3rd.

After exchanging pleasantries, Jesse Palmer asked 26-year-old Jenn if things would have turned out differently if 32-year-old Marcus had said “I love you” earlier.

“I think my heart was just in a different place and wanted something different. But it’s confusing trying to navigate all of that,” Jenn replied. “I don’t think it would have necessarily changed anything.”

At the beginning of the finale, Marcus met Jenn’s family after finalist Devin Strader. Before their last date, she went to him to find out if he was ready to say “I love you” since Devin had already said it several times.

“I don’t know if you see me in your future,” Jenn said, to which Marcus replied, “I think I regret not delving deeper into the future.”

“I don’t know how to take this. I thought you were excited about the future,” Jenn said before getting emotional. “I’ve invested so much in you, Marcus. … It hurts me because now I don’t know what to do with it. Where do I go from here?”

Just when it looked like the two were going to throw in the towel, Marcus finally said the L-word. “I don’t want to give up on us,” he said before Jenn walked away.

After a commercial break, Jenn told Marcus she was tired of waiting for someone to be ready for her. “I never thought Marcus and I would be at this point. My whole life I’ve given myself over to people and wanted them to give me the love that I wanted so badly,” Jenn told the cameras. “I’m finally letting go of a part of me that I’ve held onto for so long. … I don’t want to feel like I’m being taken for granted anymore.”

Jenn had told Marcus she loved him on their date the night before – although he was hesitant to say the same at the time.

“You deserve someone who is sure of you. I don’t know if I put pressure on myself because this process has been so fast or because it’s ending so quickly, but it’s been hard for me to get to a point where I can confidently say I’m in love,” he said on the Aug. 26 episode.

Marcus apologized after Jenn looked upset. “You don’t have to apologize, you’re not doing anything wrong,” Jenn said before her own confession. “(But) I would be lying if I didn’t tell you that I’m in love with you.”

At that time, Marcus decided to try to be more vulnerable with Jenn before the end of the show.
