Jenn Tran revealed during the live part of the finale that she and Devin Strader went their separate ways after filming The Bachelorette.

It seemed to be a happy ending with a twist after Jenn, 26, told Jesse Palmer of her plans to propose to Devin, 28. “I’m not going to let Devin propose to me today. I’m going to propose to Devin,” she told Jesse during the Tuesday, Sept. 3 episode.

But off camera, things took a turn. “We left Hawaii engaged,” Jenn said tearfully during After the last rose“I thought I had found the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. As soon as we left Hawaii, everything changed.”

Jenn claimed Devin began to “withdraw” after the show. “I was confused, I didn’t understand because we had just left so happy,” she said.

While some roses stand the test of time, others wilt before Neil Lane’s engagement ring can be adjusted. “The Bachelor” first aired on ABC in March 2002, with Alex Michel being crowned the world’s most sought-after bachelor. More than 20 women vied for his heart and one of the most successful reality TV franchises was born. (…)

“He basically said he didn’t love me anymore and didn’t feel the same about me anymore,” Jenn recalled, adding that Devin said he “regretted” the engagement. “He was checked out. It wasn’t what he wanted anymore.”

Jenn stated that she fought for the relationship, while Devin did not want to seek couples counseling.

When Devin met Jenn’s family at the beginning of the episode, she asked about her brother James‘ blessing and did not receive it. James explained that he “respected” Devin’s question but did not want to give his OK since he had not spoken to Marcus.

“The conversation with her brother scared me even more,” Devin said in the confessional.

After the conversation, Jenn encouraged Devin not to dwell on his thoughts – but he admitted in a confessional that he was “doubting” himself. “Maybe I’m not right for Jenn,” he said.

Despite his concerns, Devin assured Jenn during the evening portion of their date that he was fully committed to their relationship. “I love the thought of forever with you,” he said.

Devin experienced many ups and downs on The BacheloretteHe had feuded with several men earlier in the season. Still, his connection to Jenn was undeniable and he was one of the first to reveal that he was in love with her.

“What I really want to hear is that she loves me too,” Devin said before their overnight date. “And not the day before I get down on one knee or anything. I want to know so I can build on that.”

When Jenn didn’t say the L-word during her fantasy suite, Devin started to freak out and told the host Jesse Palmer that he could cancel the trip.

“I have a lot of difficult thoughts. … I was really, really excited about my overnight date,” he explained on the Aug. 26 episode. “But the one big question I wanted to ask her – ‘Do you love me as much as I love you?’ – I never got around to asking her. … I didn’t want to scare her with my true feelings about how bad I was inside.”

Jesse encouraged Devin to talk to Jenn. She became visibly emotional during their chat, which took place before the Men tell everything on August 27th.

“I don’t know how to have a healthy relationship. I don’t know how I can possibly be what you need me to be, and I want to do that for you. And I want to feel like I’m doing that the way you do that for me every week,” she said.

Jenn then confirmed to Devin that she loved him. “Devin, I really love you, you fucking idiot. I really love you. And sometimes I don’t know how I can be as amazing as you,” she said.

After the last rose ends on ABC at 11:00 p.m. EST. The Bachelor Franchise will be back with The Golden Bachelorette, which premieres on Wednesday, September 18th.
