— Hannah Brown (review)

NEW YORK, NY, USA, August 7, 2024 /EINPresswire.com/ — The new award-winning film “Frankenstein,” the romantic musical adaptation of Mary Shelley’s novel, is available for streaming with special discounts for school use and can be streamed on demand via StreamingMusicals.com on Vimeo.

Frankenstein has won first place at many film festivals, including eight times for Best Feature Film and eleven times for Best Original Score. (See the website for the full list.)

Joe LoBianco’s film is a gripping, thought-provoking adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic novel. It is a musical drama with passionate, haunting melodies and an award-winning “Phantom-esque” score, written and composed by Eric B. Sirota and adapted from his long-running and successful off-Broadway musical. The writer/composer describes this as “a stirring romantic musical about the human need for love and companionship.”

Reviews said: “… a musical love letter that stays true to its source material” (-Local Theatre NY); “Sirota … infuses his show with the serious philosophical underpinnings of Shelley’s original” (-Off Off On Line); “Frankenstein lives! … Immerse yourself in the haunting melodies and powerful score of this romantic musical adaptation … It’s a well-crafted show that should be considered a major force in the field of musical theatre.” (-BroadwayWorld)

It has been filmed and adapted for the screen, creating an exciting new hybrid of stage play and film musical, with an expanded score and full orchestration. See the website: https://TheFrankensteinMusical.com

As Mary Shelley’s novel is one of the classics still in the curriculum today, this faithful adaptation is of particular interest to educators. To facilitate use, a group licence can be purchased at a reduced price, allowing the novel to be shown in a classroom setting and giving each student the flexibility of individual access so they can view it on their own device and at a time of their choosing. See the website (under the ‘Teachers’ tab) for details.

Extensive free supplemental curriculum materials are provided, including notes by playwright/composer Eric B. Sirota, which include:
– How he came to write musical theatre and especially Frankenstein
– The process of developing a new musical from pen to stage and film
– Adaptation of the novel as a musical theatre piece
– Science in Frankenstein (The playwright/composer is also a widely published scientist.)

Directed by Joe LoBianco, executive producers John Lant and Tamra Pica produced the film in association with Write Act Repertory, Tin Mirror Productions and Gatehouse Entertainment.
