Aubrey Plaza, Agatha all the time Actress, recently opened up about the tragic incident that nearly cost her her life while living with her Marvel co-star Patti LuPone.

In conversation with Seth Meyers on Late Night with Seth MeyersAubrey shed light on the incident that occurred when she and Patti were roommates during their appearance in Danny’s off-Broadway production Deep blue sea in 2023.

While living together, Aubrey became very ill and Patti suggested that she see her personal nurse, Joe.

When Aubrey told the story, she said, “Oh yeah, she almost killed me. Well, it was a long story, but basically I was really sick and she said, ‘You need to go to my special nurse. His name is Joe. He is coming.’ at night.’”

Patti had to go to a fancy gala that evening; However, she explained that the nurse would “hook you up to the machine and you’ll get all the things I get and they’ll perk you up right away.”

Recalling Joe’s treatment, she articulated, “He came and hooked me up and said, ‘I’m just going to give you some vitamins and stuff like that.’ And then, right before Patti came back, he said, ‘Now do it.’ Do you want what Patti is having to help you sleep?’”

Aubrey expressed her approval of the medicine, but Joe seemed unsure. However, when she got the shot, she discovered it was a strong dose of Benadryl.

“It was Benadryl, and I figured it out. “I thought it would be more like a children’s Benadryl (it makes you a little dizzy), but when you just get Benadryl injected intravenously… it was like a horse tranquilizer to me,” she added.

She also revealed later that Patti arrived on time to check the effect of the medicine on her. But when she saw that Aubrey was in the middle of the IV and unable to speak, Patti jumped into action and rushed to make Aubrey a snack – an English muffin with peanut butter.

Furthermore, when the effects of the sleeping pills wore off and the nurse left, Aubrey questioned how the whole bizarre situation came about, to which Patti replied: “It’s because you’re on stage now and you have to toughen up. And that’s why it happens.’”

Before signing off, she expressed her thoughts, saying she “understood everything about Hollywood in that moment.”
