AT&T Internet and phone outages disrupt some Dallas businesses for days

A Dallas law firm complains that it has been without phone and internet service from AT&T since Monday.

The service company acknowledges that there was an issue that affected some businesses, but says service has been restored.

Geoff Henley Law Office reached out to FOX 4 for help. After we contacted AT&T, technicians were on site to restore service.

On Thursday afternoon, the law firm confirmed that all of its services had been restored.

But the power outage had already caused massive problems for his law firm and its clients, says Dallas lawyer Geoff Henley.

“We can’t work. I have people doing nothing and you sit there wringing your hands,” he said. “Do you send them home and do nothing at all and save on salaries? Or do you try to get by?”

Some employees completed their tasks offline, while others used their personal hotspots to access the Internet.

“And we were told it would be rescheduled on Tuesday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. We were told the same thing on Wednesday. Another 24 hours,” Henley said. “They missed several deadlines despite promising to satisfy us.”

Henley says he was given various reasons for the interruption.

“There’s a gateway within the system and someone accidentally disconnected something and it appears that this is affecting business accounts,” he said.

Henley was limited because he could not take business calls.

“And we’re also angry because we’re not taking the calls,” he said. “We have clients who want to know, ‘What’s going on with my case? Where’s my money? I didn’t get my appointment, I didn’t get my rental car.’ It absolutely has a negative impact on us. Deadlines can be missed. We have to communicate with lawyers, so that’s a real burden.”

In a statement, an AT&T spokesperson said: “Our network engineers worked quickly to resolve a software issue that disrupted Internet service for a small number of business customers. We apologize for any inconvenience this outage may have caused and thank our customers for their patience and understanding while we worked to resolve the issue.”

The company recommends restarting the modem if you have internet problems. And if the problems persist, contact customer service.
