Atlantic tropical activity is increasing in the Caribbean

Amid Helene’s attack on the Southeast and the formation of Isaac and Joyce this week, the Atlantic shows no signs of stopping.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring two additional areas in the basin for possible development – one in the Caribbean and one in the eastern Atlantic.

Caribbean region

The closest area to be observed is in the Caribbean. According to the NHC, the likelihood of this widespread low pressure area developing within the next seven days is low. Environmental conditions could become favorable for the slow development of the system in the coming days. It could potentially reach the Gulf of Mexico by the end of next week.

Another area observed is in the eastern Atlantic, directly behind Invest 98L. The likelihood of development within the next week is low.
