After winning two of three games against the Twins in Minnesota, the Cincinnati Reds had an off day on Monday. Tonight they’re back at Great American Ball Park to open a home series against the Atlanta Braves. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET tonight.
Starting line-up
Starting pitchers
Brandon Williamson
Tonight is just Williamson’s fourth game of the season and his third start. He has thrown just 13.0 innings this season, but they have been quality, as he has allowed just three earned runs and allowed 12 baserunners.

Grant Holmes
The 28-year-old rookie has spent much of his season in the bullpen but was in the rotation for three weeks, making four starters from July 29 to August 14 before returning to the bullpen. He has faced Cincinnati twice this season – both times out of the bullpen – and has allowed two runs in 4.2 innings while allowing five hits and recording eight strikeouts.
The splits for Holmes are interesting. Left-handed hitters hit .303 against him, but they rarely allow a walk and have no power at all. Right-handed hitters hit .237 against him, never allow a walk, but have only mediocre power when they get a hit against him. Four of the five home runs he has allowed this season have been hit away.
