Asphalting work on Baker Road begins in late August

Hennepin County will begin improving road surfaces on Baker Road (County Road 60) between Fairway Drive in Eden Prairie and Interstate 494 in Minnetonka.

The work planned for the end of August includes a surface treatment to renew the existing road surface in order to make the road safer for motorists.

Crews will work on one side of the road at a time, with traffic officials directing traffic through the work zone in one direction at a time. Drivers should remain alert and expect delays.

This project is part of a larger effort to resurface several roads throughout the county. The schedule will depend on the weather. Each section is expected to take two to three days. All dates are tentative and subject to change.

During the process, workers apply a surface treatment that may remain tacky for a few hours, then a layer of limestone sand. If your driveway directly adjoins the work area, be aware that driving over the fresh treatment may leave marks on light-colored concrete. Workers will return a day or two later to sweep away any remaining sand.
