Art Moore, former program director at 6abc, retires after 53 years at ABC

NEW YORK (WPVI) — TV legend and former 6abc programming director Art Moore is retiring after decades at ABC.

On Wednesday evening, employees met in New York for a farewell party for Moore.

Art has been part of the ABC family for 53 years. He joined us here at WABC in 1989.

You probably know Moore from his appearances on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” but he has been an important part of ABC’s behind-the-scenes team, most recently serving as vice president of programming at our sister station WABC.

He began his career at WKBW-TV in Buffalo, New York, when ABC was still known as Capital Cities/ABC.

He then worked for many years as program director at 6abc in Philadelphia before returning to the Big Apple. During his time at 6abc, Moore also hosted our talk show “AM Philadelphia with Dave Roberts.”

As programming director, he was involved in countless series and specials that helped shape WABC’s identity and ABC’s enduring relationship with viewers.

Kelly and Mark have been honoring Moore all week, including a special celebration on Friday.
