Armie Hammer says he’s selling his truck because he “can’t afford gas anymore”

Armie Hammer says he’s giving up his beloved truck to cut staff.

On Tuesday, the 38-year-old “Social Network” and “Call Me By Your Name” star admitted in an Instagram post that he could no longer afford gas for his car since moving back to Los Angeles, where he was born.

“I’ve put about four or five hundred dollars worth of gas in my truck since I got back to LA,” Hammer said in a video clip of his truck. “And I can’t afford it. I can’t afford the gas anymore.”

“I have a new car,” he continued. “It’s tiny. It’s a hybrid. I’ll probably spend about $10 a month on gas.”

The “Lone Ranger” actor subsequently mourned the loss of the truck, which he said he had bought himself as a Christmas present.

“I loved that truck very much and took it camping and across the country several times and on long road trips. And I took it on one final road trip to CarMax,” he explained.

Hammer’s truck was a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali pickup, reports People.

The actor recalled the memories he made in the truck, including “taking his kids home from the hospital.” Hammer is the father of two young children, daughter Harper and son Ford, whom he has with his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers.

“Here’s to a new beginning. Tomorrow is my birthday,” he told his followers in the clip, before explaining that he would “start my birthday in a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life in Los Angeles.”

He concluded his message by thanking his vehicle for years of good memories: “I appreciate all of this. I hope you take just as good care of the next person.”

Hammer’s post comes after numerous women accused the actor of rape, physical abuse and describing cannibalistic fantasies in 2021.

Hammer denied the allegations, but his career suffered nonetheless. He was subsequently dropped from several high-profile projects, including a starring role with Jennifer Lopez in the film “Shotgun Wedding” and a role opposite Julia Roberts in the miniseries “Gaslit.” He was also fired from his talent agency, WME, and his personal publicist. Reports Vanity Fair.

During his appearance at the “Painful lessonsIn a podcast in June, the actor said he had experienced “an ego death, a career death” because of the allegations.

“It’s almost like a neutron bomb went off in my life,” he said during the episode, which was released on June 16. “It killed me, it killed my ego, it killed all the people around me that I thought were my friends but weren’t – all those people were gone in a flash.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Hammer claimed that his acting career is currently “on the rocks” and that he “can’t get any more jobs” because he is “not a viable commodity.”
