Armie Hammer releases Instagram video with truck sale

After returning to Instagram late last year, Armie Hammer is back in our feeds with some content about car salesmen. Three years after multiple women came forward to accuse him of abuse, sexual misconduct and violent fetishes, the disgraced actor has kept relatively quiet, aside from a single podcast appearance — in which he said he was “grateful” for those cannibalism allegations — and a few group family photos on social media. (Hammer has repeatedly denied all of the allegations.) But after moving back to Los Angeles from the Cayman Islands, the soon-to-be 38-year-old seems to be settling into a life of bumper-to-bumper sunset traffic and gas guzzling. On Tuesday night, he posted a rare video as an ode to his truck, which he plans to sell because he can no longer afford gas prices. The comments section, of course, was as predictably wacky as a warehouse party in Bushwick after 7 a.m.

“I’ve been back in LA for a few weeks now. This is my truck. I bought it for myself as a Christmas present in 2017,” Armie began. “I’ve loved this truck very much and have taken it camping and across the country and on long road trips several times and I took it on one final road trip… to CarMax.”

“This isn’t an ad for CarMax. I’m selling my truck. Since I’ve been back in LA, I’ve put $400 or $500 worth of gas on it and I can’t afford it anymore… I can’t afford the gas anymore,” he continued. “I mean, this truck, it’s taken the kids home from the hospital and all that stuff. Great trips, but you know what? That’s OK. I have a new car. It’s tiny. It’s a hybrid. I’ll probably put about $10 a month on it and that’s it.”

I won’t bore you with the rest of the monologue, because Hammer keeps talking several times after the video should have ended (i.e. after “cool…” and “whatever…”). However, he speaks directly to his beloved truck, saying, “Here’s to a new beginning. Tomorrow is my birthday. So on August 28th, I’m going to start my birthday in a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life in Los Angeles,” not to mention that the former actor already has offers to buy his car and movie roles in the comments. What do people always say about canceled men who never get a second chance? Oh, wait…
