Kemp issues statement on Apalachee High School shooting
Apalachee High School was placed on lockdown due to a shooting. The school is located in Winder, Georgia, about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp issued a statement saying, in part, “We pray for the safety of those in our classrooms.”
BARROW COUNTY, Georgia. – The first statements are coming in following the shooting at Apalachee High School in Barrow County on Wednesday morning. Barrow County Sheriff Judd Smith confirmed that there are several victims, but did not provide any information on their condition.

The White House says President Joe Biden has been briefed on the situation by the Department of Homeland Security.
Additionally, Vice President Harris was also informed of the tragic shooting at Apalachee High School. She will receive regular updates from her staff as more information becomes available. The Biden-Harris administration will continue to work with federal, state and local authorities.
