The AP Poll’s latest Top 25 rankings are in after Week 5 of college football, and there have been some changes.

College football loves to bring us chaos, and we had a little bit of that this weekend. Did you watch? Alabama vs. Georgia? We hoped so because that was crazy!

After Week 5, let’s dive into the latest AP Poll top 25 rankings. This week there is a new team at the top of the rankings.

In fact, if you’re watching this weekend, it’s pretty well deserved. Not to mention the aforementioned teasing.

Alabama made its biggest statement of the year. Yes, we know it’s only the end of September, but this has been an emotional rollercoaster.

The Crimson Tide defeated Georgia 41-34 in an instant classic after blowing a 28-0 lead. Then Jalen Milroe and Ryan Williams happened. This team is a real title contender, if it wasn’t already.

Texas kept the train going as Arch Manning defeated Mississippi State. The Longhorns QB accounted for three touchdowns in the win.

Going forward, it’s a question of when Quinn Ewers can return to full health. Two weeks before Oklahoma, there could be a return to Red River for the original QB1.

The Buckeyes dominated Michigan State 38-7 in the Big Ten’s opening game and asserted themselves as the best team in the league.

However, it’s still early and teams like Oregon and Penn State may have something to say about it. Heck, maybe Michigan? Still, Will Howard and Jeremiah Smith had another great day as the QB-WR duo.

Tennessee had the week off but will focus on Arkansas next weekend. It’s not a walk in the park as the Vols will have to travel.

But the Volunteers could be hotter despite the week-long break from play. Everything is in full swing for Josh Heupel and Co. as Tennessee looks to get into the national title mix, and the AP Poll rankings back that up.

Georgia’s comeback attempt against Alabama definitely turned heads, making it an all-time regular season game. What was concerning, however, was that the Bulldogs were down 28-0.

It looked like Georgia had been hit by a freight train. And they still almost won the game! Make no mistake, this is still one of the best teams in the country.

Oregon won its Big Ten opener against an old Pac-12 foe in UCLA. Nevertheless, the 34:13 away win was solid all around.

Dillon Gabriel caught three touchdown passes in the win. This game was also practically over at halftime. Let’s also not forget Jordan James’ 103-yard day on the ground.

Penn State brought its white energy to the table against Illinois in a hard-fought 21-7 victory over the Fighting Illini. Illinois is certainly respectable this year, so this is a solid win.

Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen combined for nearly 200 yards and controlled the game on the ground. Penn State went undefeated and remained in the top 10 of the AP poll.

Thanks to the replay of the last play, Miami was able to avoid the surprise! Seriously, this game was back and forth when Virginia Tech came into the game.

But it wasn’t the Hokies’ “Hail Mary” that defined the game. A touchdown was called on the field and then overturned. Cam Ward was great again, but Miami should thank its lucky stars that it’s still this high in the AP poll.

Missouri had a week off after its overtime win against Vanderbilt, and it was good timing. The Tigers face a hot Texas A&M team that has won four straight games.

It always helps to have two weeks to prepare. But now that the Aggies are getting rolling, this could have a big impact on what season Missouri has in the fall.

Michigan returned to the top 10 of the AP Poll with a not-so-great performance in a win over Minnesota. Sherrone Moore definitely wasn’t happy after the game.

A win is a win, but you have to wonder if the ground-and-pound plus stabbing defense model will work in the long run. It could be quite difficult for Michigan to keep up with teams like Ohio State and Oregon.

It should be noted that the Aggies were not included in the original top 25 due to a website error, according to the AP’s Ralph Russo. But based on votes in the AP poll, Texas A&M is tied with UNLV for last place in the rankings.
