Anna Delvey’s “Dancing With the Stars” pro is surprised by her blunt reaction to her vote out

Warning: Spoilers for the September 24, 2024 episode of “Dancing With the Stars” follow.

Anna Delvey was cut from this season of “Dancing with the Stars” and reacted quite bluntly to her elimination.

Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, was one of the first celebrities to be eliminated from the competition show’s 33rd season.

She and her partner, pro Ezra Sosa, were eliminated on the September 24 episode. Delvey and Sosa earned a score of 17/30 while dancing to KT Tunstall’s “Suddenly I See” on Tuesday night. Although their score wasn’t the lowest — the show also takes fans’ votes into account — the two were still eliminated. Tori Spelling and her pro Pasha Pashkov were also sent home.

When asked what she would take away from her experience on the show, Delvey replied with a serious expression: “Nothing.”

The blunt answer seemed to surprise Sosa, who raised his eyebrows and laughed.

The show’s hosts, Julianna Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro, also laughed at her comment as the show’s credits rolled.

“You were having fun, stop, stop,” Ribeiro replied.

As her second episode premiered, Delvey was apparently upset by the lukewarm reception she received from fans of the show online last week.

In a TikTok on Monday before the show, Sosa revealed that Delvey had been crying in a bathroom after her “DWTS” debut.

“For my part, I felt so much positivity,” he said in the video. “My partner didn’t feel the same. I think the worst part of my day after the press conference was that she was reading the comments and we couldn’t find her. Finally, they found her in the bathroom. She was crying. I’ve never seen her like that before and it broke my heart.”

Before her performance on September 24, Delvey explained what had happened.

“After dancing, I was really happy, but when I went online, I read all these comments and I was just upset,” she said in a pre-taped segment. “I’m used to people thinking negatively about me. I’m upset for a brief moment, but then I just move on.”

Delvey made headlines in 2018 after she was arrested for posing as a German heiress and defrauding banks, hotels and ordinary people of more than $200,000. She served two years in prison for her financial crimes and was released on parole in February 2021.

Her name only really entered the American vocabulary after the Netflix series “Inventing Anna,” based on her story, was released in 2022.
