An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect – NBC Bay Area

Fall is currently on hold in the Bay Area as a summer heat wave brings triple-digit temperatures to parts of the region.

An excessive heat warning is now in effect for much of the Bay Area through Wednesday night, the National Weather Service announced Monday afternoon.

The warning applies to the following areas, according to the weather service: the interior and coastal areas of the North Bay, the San Francisco Bay coast, the interior of the East Bay, Santa Clara County and the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Inland locations could see temperatures as high as 108 degrees, the weather service said. Areas along the coast that are also under a heat advisory through Wednesday night may see temperatures in the mid-90s.

The Weather Service reminds the public to never leave people or pets in vehicles, limit outdoor activities during the hottest times of the day, and stay hydrated and take cool-down breaks during the duration of the fall heat spell.
