The Minecraft Movie won’t be in theaters until next year, but the first teaser trailer has been released. The film has been in the works for a long time: 10 years, to be exact. And for a game that originally had no story, A Minecraft Movie looks like it will be exceptionally fun.
The film stars Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, Emma Myers and Danielle Brooks – there are other stars who are not seen in this trailer. The film was written by Chris Bowman, Rob McElhenney and Hubbel Palmer and directed by Jared Hess.
There’s also an official description of the film, and of course there are some familiar monsters: “Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential for survival! Four outsiders – Garrett ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks) – are struggling with everyday problems when they’re suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal to the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on fantasy. To return home, they must master this world (and also protect it from nasty things like piglins and zombies) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, skilled craftsman, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be brave and reconnect with the traits that make each of them uniquely creative… the very skills they need to survive in the real world.”
Outside of this description, there is also a mention of the Ender Dragon, the giant monster you must fight in the world of The End – which is completely optional in the game.
Although this first teaser is pretty short, it gives us a glimpse into what will happen in A Minecraft Movie. We’ve looked at every moment of the teaser and found some interesting things, from what else could happen in the film to a plethora of Easter eggs.
