INDIANTOWN – Two people suffered minor injuries Thursday in a crash involving an Amtrak train and a tractor-trailer, according to the Martin County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office.
Shortly after 10:30 a.m. Thursday, emergency crews were called to Southwest Warfield Boulevard and Southwest Amaryliss Avenue, fire department spokesman Cory Pippin said. The area is northwest of Indiantown in western Martin County.
Christine Christofek, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said there were 72 passengers, 14 crew members and a truck driver on board. The semi-trailer attempted to cross the tracks and was struck by the Amtrak train.
There were two people in the truck with minor injuries who refused treatment, Pippin said.
The flames did not spread to the tracks or the train, he said.
