Amir Khan unveils ‘eye-catching £1.9m’ watch as he puts Bolton wedding hall on the market for £12.5m

Just hours after putting his Bolton wedding venue up for sale, Amir Khan unveiled a chic new watch.

The former boxing star announced today (Friday) that he offer his wedding hall for sale for a whopping £12.5 million – just months after the first wedding took place there.

The plans were first submitted for the venue, called The Balmaya – which means ‘enamelled’ in Arabic – in 2013. The original construction of the Deane Road site was completed in 2015, but since then it has suffered delays and even damage from a fire. The total construction cost is said to have been as much as £16 million.

The 4,200 m² banquet hall had its grand opening earlier this year and hosted its first wedding in May. Khan said at the time that the “booking list for future events was full.”

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) in the early hours of this morning, Amir, who announced his retirement from the boxing ring in May 2022, revealed that he “wants to sell” the wedding hall for £12.5 million.

He said: “I want to sell my wedding hall for £12.5 million. The property has four floors, including three dedicated wedding floors and a rooftop event terrace.”

“In addition, there are parking spaces for up to 200 vehicles at the front and rear. Interested parties can contact me by email at [email protected].”

He later added: “I would like to make it clear that despite my sale process, operations at Balmayna are continuing without interruption. Business is thriving, there is significant demand for weddings and events and our calendar is filling up quickly with bookings.”

Tonight, the former world boxing champion and Olympic silver medalist was back at X, this time to show off a fancy new watch that he “gifted” himself.

Amir posted a video of an RM ACJ on his wrist with the caption “$1.9 million.” In a post alongside the video, the 37-year-old wrote: “Gave myself a watch. A well-deserved gift.”

Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ) and Richard Mille have collaborated to design the limited edition watch, which is inspired by travel in an Airbus corporate jet. The dial has been worked to represent the shape of an airplane window.

X users were quick to respond to Amir’s video of the watch.

One person commented: “That’s a deposit on a wedding venue in Bolton.” Another wrote: “Fair play – millions were entertained. Deserved it.”
