Under the lush canopy of the hills of Montego Bay, surrounded by 130 close friends and family members, Amicia Ramsey, a well-known television host for WISH-TV, married orthopedic surgeon Dr. Daniel Sutton on August 3, 2024.
Their wedding, a mix of tropical magic and elegant Caribbean flair, was the culmination of a romance that began with a social media introduction. Ramsey, who first met Sutton through social media after appearing on Kendra G’s reality online dating show, exchanged vows with her groom in a ceremony planned by Design VUs by Niyka Taylor. Ramsey wore a stunning Rosemary Taylor gown while the photographer captured every magical moment.
“It was a moment and an experience that we were able to share not just among ourselves but with our entire family, and it meant so much to us. It was like love at full speed,” Ramsey said. “To be able to say my wedding vows in front of God and witnesses is the greatest promise I have ever made. My father walked me down the aisle and handed me over to my groom. I could feel it in my spirit, the transition between saying goodbye to my husband and committing to him.”
Although rain was forecast, the skies cleared in time for the ceremony. Ramsey walked up the aisle and heard Donald Douglas’ live performance of “Everything I Need” – an emotional start to the day.
During the ceremony, their father, Bishop Arthur W. Ramsey Jr., blessed them with oil and they received communion, adding a very personal and spiritual touch to the ceremony. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail on a terrace balcony with a coconut bar before moving to the main terrace for the reception.
The reception was a visual and culinary feast, with an Epic Plating team serving up delicacies including curried goat, lamb, scallops, ackee and salt cod, and spicy oxtail. Guests were entertained by live band Dub Squad, a professional singer, and an acoustic performance by Sutton herself, who serenaded Ramsey with an original song about their love story.
“Another highlight for me was watching Daniel perform our wedding song,” said Ramsey. “The room was full of guests, but it felt like it was just him and me. It was just a very special moment. The lyrics really touched my heart. I felt tears of joy rolling down my cheeks.”
For Sutton, the day was marked by mixed emotions.
“I was nervous, scared, excited, tired, happy – all of those emotions combined,” he said. “Seeing all of our friends and family as I walked down those steps filled me with so much joy. And then seeing Amicia walk down the aisle with her father was a special moment. She looked beautiful and elegant. Taking her from her father and standing together at the altar was the highlight of my day. It marked a new chapter.”
The couple is now looking forward to their honeymoon in Paris, where they will begin their new life together.
“From the proposal to this beautiful wedding, it’s been an incredible journey,” Ramsey said. “Having everyone we love here to celebrate with us made it an unforgettable experience.”
Kendra G, who played a central role in the couple’s meeting, expressed her joy at witnessing their union.
“She is one of my favorite success stories. I traveled to Jamaica just to see one of our favorite cousins become a woman. Amicia was such a beautiful bride. Her father not only walked her down the aisle, but also married her to her future husband.”
