ScarpePatricia Cornwell’s 2008 novel, the sequel to Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta series, has been ordered by Amazon Prime for two seasons. Oscar winners Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis will play leading roles and serve as executive producers.

Described as a mystery thriller, Scarpe follows Kay Scarpetta (Kidman), chief medical examiner, as she returns to Virginia and resumes her former position, dealing with complex relationships both personal and professional – including her sister Dorothy (Curtis), with whom there are plenty of resentments and secrets to uncover.

The cast of Scarpe also includes Bobby Cannavale (Ezra, The Irishman) as former detective Pete Marino; Simon Baker (breath, Boy swallows universe) as FBI profiler Benton Wesley; Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) as Lucy Farinelli-Watson, Dorothy’s daughter; Rosy McEwen (Blue jeans) as Past Kay Scarpetta and Jake Cannavale (The offer, Mandalorian) as Past Pete Marino.

Liz Sarnoff (Barry, Lost) will write the script, executive produce and direct the show. David Gordon Green (HalloweenN, Stronger) is set to direct the first two episodes.

Nicole Kidman added: “I have Scarpe for nearly twenty years, back when it was planned as a feature film, so it feels like fate to be working with the amazing Jamie Lee Curtis, Prime Video, Jason Blum and David Gordon Green on the Liz Sarnoff series adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s epic and thrilling books. I can’t wait to step into the role of Kay Scarpetta and am so grateful to Patricia Cornwell for entrusting her to me.”

The number of episodes ordered for the two seasons of Scarpetta has not yet been confirmed. The expected debut date is 2025.
