Alvin Kamara wants a long-term contract, and if he doesn’t have one, the running back knows this could be his last season in New Orleans. With that in mind, reporters in New Orleans asked Kamara if he would put his New Orleans home up for sale.

“You are looking for a house?” Kamara said with a smile, via Matthew Paras of nola.com.

Kamara’s 70,000-square-foot home, built in 2022, is for sale for $2.75 million. He describes himself as a “serial entrepreneur” who is involved in many areas, including real estate.

“I wouldn’t say I had … an exact plan, but I had plans,” Kamara said. “I’m pretty single-minded in my real estate dealings. I have other properties in town, too, so if I sell (the house) today, I’ll have a place to be, so I’m in a good position.”

Kamara has two years left on his contract, and his 2024 salary cap hit is the team’s highest at $18.5 million. He has no guaranteed salary for 2025, and his salary cap hit is $29 million, so the Saints will certainly move on and pocket $18.9 million in salary cap savings if the parties can’t agree on a new contract.

In June, Kamara left the team on the last day of mandatory minicamp to express his displeasure with the state of talks.

Even though his future is uncertain, it is in his hands.

“I feel like I have no time to lose because let’s just say I’m halfway through if I play 16 years,” said Kamara, who is entering his eighth season. “Or 10 years, I’m at the end of my career. I don’t want to waste any time.”

“I don’t want to sit here and say, ‘I have time. I have time.’ I don’t have time, so I’m trying to make the most of it. I’m trying to do the best I can to have the most success possible. And in this league, we measure success by Super Bowls and games in February. That’s what I want to accomplish.”

Kamara has never had a 1,000-yard season, but he went to five consecutive Pro Bowls early in his career. Last season, he rushed for 694 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games.
