Allouez boss retires after 30 years of service

ALLOUEZ – Brad Lange, the township administrator of Allouez, will retire in early 2025 after nearly 30 years of service to the township. He is the second administrator to retire in the coming months after De Pere announced the retirement of Town Administrator Larry Delo on Dec. 18.

Lange assumed the position in 2014 following Tracy Flucke’s resignation in May of that year and was selected from four other finalists. He previously served as the village’s director of parks, recreation and forestry since 1995.

“Brad maintained a high standard in all his endeavors and we will all miss him!” said a statement from Town Clerk Carrie Zittlow.

Under his watch, Allouez began cleaning up the East River, allocating $500,000 in federal funds to the East River Water Trail, demolished a shopping center and began planning to redevelop the site into a mixed-use development, and clashed with the Department of Corrections over the closure of a state prison.

The next village leader will face several tasks laid out in the village’s “Comprehensive Plan 2044,” adopted last month: continuing Allouez’s tradition of environmental protection and natural beauty while expanding the village’s tax base; reducing the high vacancy and rental rates that underlie the area’s housing market; and circumventing the problems associated with stagnant population growth.

The Allouez Municipal Council will be collecting community opinions on important qualities and qualifications to consider when choosing the next municipal administrator through an assessment survey. Responses will be collected until August 28.
