Alan Cumming thanks Scotland for The Traitors’ win at the 2024 Emmys

The traitors had a great night at the 2024 Emmys!

Reality show Peacock won its first-ever Emmy for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program, and host Alan Cumming — who received his first-ever award for hosting the show at last week’s Creative Arts Emmys — gave a heartfelt speech, praising his native Scotland as the perfect setting for the psychological reality competition series.

“We’re so grateful because we’re a new show – and folks, you know when you like something, you tend to stick with it, which is a good trait – but we appreciate it all the more,” Cumming, 59, said as he began his acceptance speech on behalf of the series.

He also shouted out to Peacock, thanking them for their “kindness and support,” as well as the cast and crew “who work so hard and get so wet in the Scottish weather.”

“I also want to thank Scotland, I owe it everything and it is such a wonderful co-star,” Cumming continued, before mentioning another European country.

“I also want to thank Holland because I don’t think we thank Holland enough because so many of these shows, like The traitorswere first made in Holland, and there is obviously something in the water, so let’s find it, let’s drink it, and all of America’s problems will be solved.”
