Alabama Football vs. USF Bulls: Open thread for the second half

I don’t know what’s going on with this USF Bulls team, but Alabama’s OL has had no idea what to do against their rushing attack for two years in a row. Jalen Milroe has been under fire on almost every play and had a few scary moments when he got hit in the legs and limped a bit (both are penalties for unnecessary roughness against the passer in the NFL, but not in college).

Overall, Milroe and the offense made their share of plays, but the constant barrage of holding penalties and a few sacks derailed too many attacks, including a 75-yard touchdown run by Milroe that was called back.

Still, Milroe is 10/16 for 103 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, so he’s doing pretty well overall. He’s made some nice throws to gaps up the middle that show an improvement over his play last year.

Defensively, Alabama played pretty well for the most part. Byrum Brown interrupted a few quarterback runs (as he always does), but aside from the QB scrambles, they defended pretty much everything pretty well, holding one of the better offenses in the country to just two field goals.

If the OL can figure out how to deal with the edge blitzes, Alabama will likely win this game in the second half. But after two seasons of having the same problem…that’s a really big “if.”

Good luck in the second half and Roll Tide!
