Airbnb is offering £150 towards your wedding outfit when you fly to these destinations

Airbnb has partnered with fashion rental app By Rotation to offer Brits invited to weddings abroad this year £150 credit towards the rental of a designer outfit – plus £100 Airbnb credit towards their next trip.

With summer in full swing, many spouses-to-be are planning their weddings to make the most of the sunny weather. However, there is also a growing trend for couples to plan their wedding outside of the UK.

Although it’s exciting to be invited to a special day, budgeting for a wedding abroad or at home isn’t necessarily an easy task. This is especially true when you have to worry about flights and accommodation in addition to looking stylish in a new outfit.

According to a survey by Airbnb, around 53 percent of guests from the UK say that the costs of attending a wedding are difficult for them.

However, Airbnb and By Rotation have teamed up to ease the stress and reduce the cost of planning a trip to another country for a wedding or perhaps even a longer vacation.

According to a study by Airbnb, the average British wedding guest spends £661 per wedding, with 17 percent saying wedding gifts for the happy couple add to the financial burden.

Ten percent say the same about having to spend a lot of money on new clothes for the wedding. However, if you’re staying in an Airbnb for a wedding this year, you can splurge on a new two-piece from Ganni or even a coveted dress from Farm Rio.

While England still tops the list of Brits’ wedding destinations this summer, followed by Northern Ireland and Ireland in second and Wales in third, other couples have also turned their attention to European destinations and beyond to get married, Airbnb’s research shows.

In the middle of the top ten wedding destinations, guests can expect to be invited to classic holiday destinations such as Spain, Italy and France for the big day, but North America ranks seventh behind these countries.

Completing the list are Greece (including the islands) and the Caribbean. If you’re invited to a wedding in one of these top 10 destinations before the end of 2024 and are also staying in an Airbnb, the vacation rental company will offer you the option to apply for a £150 By Rotation credit to rent a designer outfit for the big day.

“When loved ones tie the knot, it should be a cause for celebration, not worry. Our research shows that guests are increasingly stressed and we want to try and ease that pressure,” said Amanda Cupples, General Manager for the UK and Northern Europe at Airbnb.

“Partnering with By Rotation couldn’t have been more perfect, as their fashion expertise allows wedding guests to rent their dream outfit in a more sustainable and cost-effective way,” she added. “This, combined with Airbnb’s offering of unforgettable stays around the world where you can have the place all to yourself, helps make the wedding guest experience even easier and more affordable too.”

An incredible 83 percent of Brits will attend at least one wedding in 2024, with an incredible 31 percent attending four or more big days. This means attending your loved one’s wedding can be an expensive affair, especially if you’re trying to look stylish at each and every wedding.

Although flying to a wedding abroad can blow the annual vacation budget, some guests attending a wedding abroad have already found ways to save costs.

More than half (53 percent) of them say they prefer to stay in a group and share the cost of accommodation among themselves, thereby actively trying to make accommodation more affordable.

Airbnb’s new offer also includes £100 off all future bookings made through the platform.

As more couples choose to marry abroad, many of their guests are using their big day as an opportunity for an extended vacation, the study found.

More than half (59 percent) of Britons who attend a wedding abroad see it as an opportunity to use the time in another country as a holiday.

“Airbnb has revolutionized the way we travel and promoted a community-focused approach. The brand is a huge source of inspiration for the online fashion marketplace we have created at By Rotation,” said Eshita Kabra-Davies, Founder and CEO of By Rotation.

“Weddings are such joyous occasions and attending them should be as stress-free as possible. We believe our two brands can help with that – by combining the best of travel and affordable fashion for your wedding calendar.”
