“Agatha All Along” is the second worst MCU series of all time

I didn’t think Agatha All Along, a spin-off about the 208th most memorable character in the Marvel canon, would get many viewers, even if it Was good. But it also seems that the reviews are not so great, because so far the critics have rated the film worse than the audience.

Agatha All Along currently has a 67% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics with over 50 reviews. Yes, that’s a “fresh” rating, but in the grand scheme of Marvel TV, that makes it the second-worst-reviewed series in MCU history (excluding the now-canon Netflix Daredevil/Defenders content and pre-Disney plus stuff like Agents of Shield).

The viewership is a little higher, but it’s still the fourth worst. Here’s the full list so you can see what that looks like:

  1. Ms. Marvel – 98% critics, 80% audience
  2. WandaVision – 92% critics, 87% audience
  3. Hawkeye – 92% critics, 88% audience
  4. Loki – 87% critics, 88% audience
  5. Moon Knight – 86% critics, 89% audience
  6. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – 85% critics, 81% audience
  7. She-Hulk – 79% critics, 32% audience
  8. Echo – 70% critics, 61% audience
  9. Agatha All Along – 67% critics, 77% audience
  10. Secret Invasion – 52% critics, 44% audience

I’ve been saying for a while that I think the MCU has a certain level of critical fatigue because if you look at the long story arc, the longer it goes on, the ratings get worse. But unlike some movies, I think most of the lower rated shows here are… justified. Secret Invasion is the worst thing the MCU has ever produced and the rating should be lower. Echo was not good. I like She-Hulk, but it loses a lot of points for its subpar visual effects.

So, Agatha all the time? Hard to say. I liked the first two episodes, but the critics have seen more (I think not the whole episode yet?). I don’t think we’ll know the grand scope of the series until we reach the end, and if there’s a crazy MCU moment like Wanda’s resurrection, that could take the series to a new level (no spoilers, it just seems like it’s heading in that direction). My guess is that it doesn’t deserve to be so low, but I can’t say that for sure so early. But I think this debut is at least promising. Again, this is not bad Score itself.

We’ll find out more next week, and for seven weeks, actually. The performance of this show doesn’t really matter, since it’s a nine-episode miniseries with no second season planned, but I’m sure Disney would like more people to watch and like it than not.
