Some people follow the time-honored tradition of emulating the Griswolds and searching for the perfect Christmas tree for their family’s Christmas celebration.

A very popular nursery in the area closed in 2022 due to the death of a beloved family member. This had been a tradition for many and in the Rothstein family for decades. It was hard to see it stop, but at the same time understandable.

We thank you for your support over the years. I am sorry that we are no longer able to sell trees due to the passing of my husband. I would still love to stay in touch. I wish you all God’s blessings.

So in recent years, families have had to find another place to get their real family Christmas tree. But it looks like the nursery will be reopening this year.

Exactly when they will reopen and what the opening hours will be will be announced at a later date. Follow them on Facebook to stay updated.

So if you haven’t gotten a real tree from Rothstein Tree Farm outside of St. Joseph, you can continue that tradition this year. If you haven’t done so before, it’s really fun to go out and find the perfect tree and cut it down yourself. Then you can take it home and decorate it with all the beautiful scents of the season.

The perfect time to get the family together and make it an event. Pick out the family (Griswold) Christmas tree. But hopefully your family doesn’t end up like the Griswolds in the movie “Christmas Vacation,” but maybe get the movie and watch it. It’s a tradition in our house.
