Today’s forecast:
A long ridge of high pressure stretching from California to the High Plains will keep most of southern Colorado dry today. If there is rain today, it will be over the high plains. On the Plains, it will be sunny and hot, with highs of 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in the afternoon.
Weather forecast for Colorado Springs: High: 87; Low: 57. Mostly sunny and hot this afternoon, with highs in the Pikes Peak region above 80 degrees.
Pueblo Forecast: High: 93; Low: 56. Nice and cool this morning but it will be hot this afternoon with sunshine and dry skies for our Tuesday.
Weather forecast for Canon City: High: 90; Low: 58. Hot and dry, with highs near 90 degrees this afternoon and a few fair weather clouds over eastern Fremont County.
Weather forecast for Woodland Park: High: 78; Low: 49. A clear and cool start to our Tuesday will give way to a partly cloudy and warm afternoon. No rain is expected in Woodland Park today.
Tri-Lakes Forecast: High: 80s; Low: 40s/50s. Warm, with a few fair weather clouds this afternoon, but mostly dry skies as we head back to work after the long holiday weekend.
Weather forecast for the plains: High: 80s/90s; Low: 10 °C. Hot and dry, with plenty of sunshine on the plains today before unsettled changes mid and late in the week.
Weather forecast for Walsenburg and Trinidad: High: 80s; Low: 50s. A cool and crisp Tuesday morning will give way to a bright and warm afternoon. No rain is expected on the southern corridor of I-25 today.
Mountain forecast: High: 70s; Low: 40s. Early sunshine will give way to increasing clouds this afternoon, along with the possibility of a few isolated thunderstorms in the high country. The best rain chances today will be along and west of the Continental Divide.
Extended outlook:
A cold front will move into southern Colorado Wednesday afternoon, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some stronger storms may bring hail and gusty winds.
Our highs on Wednesday will be between 27 and 32 degrees before cooling down to 6 to 8 degrees on Thursday. We’ll be back in the upper 25s in Colorado Springs by Friday before returning to 27 degrees over the weekend. Scattered afternoon thunderstorms are possible across the region on Thursday before it driers out towards the weekend.
