With just one month left until the NBA season, fans just learned that the NBA will feel much different this year than in years past. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (55), aka Woj, is retiring as an NBA reporter.

The respected NBA insider is ending his career and opting to take the position of general manager of the men’s basketball program at St. Bonaventure, Wojnarowski’s alma mater.

“I am leaving my dream job at ESPN and am so incredibly grateful for my time and experiences at the World Wide Leader,” said Wojnarowski. He has been with ESPN since 2017 and previously worked for Yahoo! Sports and The Record of Bergen County in New Jersey.

During his time as an NBA reporter, Wojnarowski became synonymous with breaking news. Woj was often the first to report on big transfers, free agent signings and general NBA news. He broke breaking, impactful news so often that his tweets were often referred to as “Woj bombs” because he would drop the news and set NBA Twitter ablaze.

Some of his tweets were more impactful than others, though. Whether he was trying to gain an edge over The Athletic’s Shams Charania or just wanting to be the best at what he does, Woj gave sports fans plenty of unforgettable moments while scrolling through our social media feeds. Here are the five biggest Woj bombs of all time.

The biggest Woj bombs of all time:

Honorable Mentions:

There was once a time when the NBA wasn’t in the habit of signing a lot of new players on the same day. However, the 2019 offseason saw one of the biggest such days when the Brooklyn Nets signed both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. DeAndre Jordan is also in the mix, but that didn’t matter.

Not exactly a Woj bombshell, as no news was announced, but Woj tweeted this during a pretty slow 2015 NBA trade deadline. Then, out of the blue, this gets released and fans across the league started biting their nails in anticipation of what was about to happen. About ten minutes later, numerous trades fell through involving influential players like Isaiah Thomas, Kevin Garnett, JaVale McGee, Reggie Jackson and Goran Dragic.

5) Anthony Davis to the Lakers:

Everyone suspected and believed that there was rigging between LeBron James and Anthony Davis. When news of this team-up broke, the internet was still shocked at the potential that a James-Davis pairing could bring. Unfortunately, the pair only managed to win one championship together in LA.

4) Paul George to the Clippers:

While the Anthony Davis trade had long been speculated about, this Paul George trade came out of the blue for most people. George was just 29 years old at the time and was coming off a season in which he finished third in MVP voting. Plus, Woj was serious when he talked about a “record-breaking” collection of draft picks. This trade played a big role in the Thunder becoming NBA contenders in 2023.

3) The truth behind the Chris Paul trade that never happened:

The Chris Paul trade that never happened is a legend in NBA circles. Before this tweet, however, the conspiracy that the trade was rejected by NBA owners was just that: a conspiracy. Woj lifted the curtain on this trade and revealed that it was actually the truth.

2) The beginning of the end of the 2020 season

This was just a taste of what was to come. We had all seen the clips of Rudy Gobert touching every microphone he could see, and it was shaping up to be one of the worst days in sports history.

1) NBA suspends 2020 season due to COVID:

This was a real blow. No additional information. No context, just the knowledge that COVID-19 had officially put the sports world on hold. This was the moment when many people realized how big the threat of COVID-19 was, and Wojnarowski’s tweet left the NBA world speechless for a few moments.
