Adele says she is taking an “incredibly long” break from music

She’s known for saying hello, but Adele is now apparently preparing to say goodbye to music for a long time.

On the last night of her ten-concert tour in Munich, the “Easy On Me” singer informed her fans that she would be taking an indefinite break from performing after her tour in Las Vegas, which is scheduled to end in November.

“I’ve really enjoyed performing for almost three years. That’s the longest I’ve ever spent and probably ever will,” the singer said during Saturday night’s show. “I’ve got 10 shows to go after that… I won’t see you for an incredibly long time after that and I’ll carry you in my heart for the entirety of my hiatus.”

The Grammy winner has performed almost non-stop since launching her “Weekends with Adele” program in Las Vegas in November 2022. The Munich shows were supposed to mark the end of Adele’s 100-show run, but earlier this year she announced that 10 shows in Las Vegas had been postponed from March to October and November due to health reasons.

“It’s been incredible. I just need a break,” Adele told the crowd on Saturday. “I’ve spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live it now. I want to live the life I’ve built for myself. But I’m going to miss you terribly.”

Adele had already hinted in July that she might take a break from music, when she told German broadcaster ZDF that her tank was “pretty empty”.

“I have no plans for new music at all,” she said, according to a translation by Variety. “I want to take a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things for a short while.”

In the past, Adele has taken longer and longer breaks between her albums. Her most recent album, “30,” was released in 2021, six years after its predecessor, “25.” This album was released four years after her second album, “21,” which in turn was released three years after her debut album, “19.”
