Adele prepares her fans for an upcoming “long” break without new music and performances.
Over the past few years, the singer has been busy performing to enthusiastic audiences at her residency shows in the US and abroad. On August 31, Adele ended her residency in Munich and gave an emotional speech to the audience, speaking of a much-needed break.
In a video of her last performance in Munich, which her fans posted on social media, the 36-year-old thanked her fans for coming to see her sing.
“I know I’m not the most relaxed performer, but I’m damn good at it,” she said. “And I’ve really enjoyed performing for almost three years now, which is the longest I’ve ever spent performing and probably the longest I ever will.”
Their Munich performances were supposed to be their last this year, but their shows in Las Vegas were postponed from March to November earlier this year.
“I have exactly five weeks of shows left,” Adele said on stage. “But after that, I won’t see you for an incredibly long time. And I’ll carry you in my heart for the entirety of my break. And I’ll dream about these shows and all the shows I’ve done over the last three years.”
She emphasized again that the performances during her residency hold a special place in her heart.
“It was incredible. I just need a break,” she explained to cheers from the crowd. “I’ve spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live it now.”
The Grammy winner then became emotional as she spoke about wanting to focus on her personal life. Adele has an 11-year-old son named Angelo. She is also rumored to be engaged to her long-time love Rich Paul.
“I will miss you terribly,” she told the crowd.

Adele had already spoken about taking a break from music and the stage in an interview with the German broadcaster ZDF in July.
“I have no plans for new music at all,” she revealed at the time, according to a translation by Variety. “After this, I want to take a big break and I think I want to do other creative things for a short while.”
Adele has not released any new music since her fourth album, 30, which was released in November 2021. Her residency began a year later in November 2022.
Although fans will have to wait to hear from her again, the singer said in January that she plans to produce another album at some point.
“I just don’t think I’m going to write an album anytime soon,” she said onstage earlier this year, according to a clip shared on X. “But the next time I do, I’m coming to wherever you live.”
