Adelaide scores with the exclusive Chihuly’s Garden Cycle exhibition

Renowned American artist Dale Chihuly’s large-format glass sculptures decorate gardens in the USA, London and Singapore. Now Adelaide has acquired exclusive rights to Chihuly’s first major Australian outdoor exhibition. Garden cycle, that will come to life Adelaide Botanic Gardens this September.

As you wander through the lush landscapes, you will encounter a fascinating collection of 15 large-scale, hand-blown glass structures, including both iconic works and brand new pieces made specifically for Adelaide. Day visitors can enjoy a free leisurely stroll along the two-kilometer outdoor garden path, searching for works of art entwined in trees, hanging over flowerbeds and rising from waterways.

“I have been looking for an opportunity to return to Adelaide since 2000, when I first presented work at JamFactory,” said Chihuly. “The Adelaide Botanic Garden offers so many rich colors and textures – the ideal environment for placing my work, and I look forward to sharing this new exhibition with the South Australian community.”

These living sculptures will take on new colors and personalities throughout the day and seasons, giving you plenty of reasons to visit again and again. At sunset you can experience Chihuly nights – special evening events that also provide access to a special exhibition, In full color: Dale Chihuly, set in the tropical rainforest of the Bicentennial Conservatory. Here, visitors can take a look at what goes on behind the doors of Chihuly’s Hot Shop and see how the towering sculptures found their way to the Adelaide Botanic Garden. Enjoy the warm summer evenings with appetizers, drinks and live music in the Schomburgk Pavilion.
