According to his lawyer, Diddy will face lawsuits from 120 new victims of sexual abuse

A Houston attorney is threatening to file a civil sexual abuse lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs on behalf of more than 100 people.

At a press conference on Tuesday (October 1), the Houston-based attorney said Tony Buzbee said his law firm and the California firm AVA Law Group had been retained by at least 120 people to pursue “cases in civil court” against Combs, who was indicted on criminal charges by federal prosecutors last month.

“We will expose the enablers who enabled this behavior behind closed doors,” Buzbee said during the press conference. “We will investigate this matter regardless of who the evidence implicates.”

If the new cases are filed, they would dramatically expand the scope of the allegations against Diddy. At least 12 victims have already filed civil sexual abuse lawsuits against him in the past year, and federal prosecutors have cited “dozens of victims” in their court filings in their extortion and sex trafficking case.

But Buzbee’s alleged victims would dwarf the existing list of alleged victims. At the news conference, he said more than 3,000 people had contacted his office and that his firm and AVA were continuing to evaluate new accusers for possible action. Buzbee said the alleged incidents date back to 1991 and that 25 of the alleged victims were minors when Combs was allegedly attacked.

The cases will not be filed as a class action, Buzbee said, but rather as dozens of separate lawsuits filed in different states. He said he plans to begin filing cases within the next 30 days.

In a statement following the press conference, Combs’ attorney said Erica Wolff strongly denied the allegations and vowed to fight the impending wave of cases.

“As Mr. Combs’ legal team has emphasized, he cannot address every unfounded allegation in what has become a ruthless media circus,” Wolff said. “Nevertheless, Mr. Combs strongly and categorically denies as false and defamatory any allegation that he sexually abused anyone, including minors. He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court, where the truth will be determined based on evidence and not speculation.”

Combs, also known as Puff Daddy and P. Diddy, was once one of the most powerful men in the music industry. But in an indictment unsealed last month, prosecutors alleged he ran a sprawling criminal operation for decades aimed at satisfying his need for “sexual gratification.”

“For decades, Sean Combs … abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his behavior,” prosecutors wrote in the indictment. “To achieve this, Combs relied on the people, resources and influence of the diverse business empire that he led and controlled.”

The indictments detailed “freak-offs” in which Combs and others allegedly plied victims with drugs and then forced them to have sex with male sex workers, as well as alleged acts of violence and intimidation to keep victims silent. If convicted on all charges, he faces a possible life sentence.

Buzbee is no stranger to mass lawsuits. After the deadly Astroworld music festival disaster in 2021, his firm represented dozens of alleged victims in lawsuits against Live Nation, Travis Scott and others, some of which are still pending.
