Acclaimed anime film with 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating comes to Netflix

The 2023 anime adaptation of the Blue Giant Manga was a critically acclaimed film. Now, the critically acclaimed masterpiece reaches an even higher note by gaining a popular streaming platform as its new home for viewers in North America.




Directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa, the Blue Giant The film was praised by critics and moviegoers alike upon its release. It is one of several popular anime films in recent years and part of a trend in anime adaptations. The news also comes as the franchise continues in manga form.

One of the best anime movies of 2024 will soon be streaming on Netflix in North America


As announced on the official “Netflix Anime” account on X (formerly Twitter), streaming giant Netflix will broadcast the film in 2023 Blue Giant from September 1, 2024. The film adapts the jazz-based manga by creator Shinichi Ishizuka, which was published in 2013 and comprised 10 tankobon volumes until its end in 2016. The series and its film adaptation are about Miyamoto Dai, who is inspired to learn the saxophone after attending an impressive jazz performance. The Blue Giant The film was released in February 2023 to critical acclaim—and a 100% rating on review site Rotten Tomatoes—and was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 8th Crunchyroll Anime Awards and the 47th Japan Academy Film Prize.


The music for Blue Giant was directed by Hiromi Uehara, who won the award for Best Music for her work on the film. Director Yuzuru Tachikawa is also known for directing all three seasons of the film. Blue Giant is scheduled to be released on Netflix in the US and Canada on September 1st.
