Aaron Rodgers, Jets offense punished by NFL fans after loss to Bo Nix, Broncos | News, results, highlights, statistics and rumors

The New York Jets looked more like a bunch of kites flapping around in the wind on Sunday, at least on the offensive side of the ball.

New York lost an ugly game to the Broncos 10-9 on Sunday when Greg Zuerlein missed a go-ahead field goal with just under a minute left. The Jets’ offense barely performed well against the Broncos, managing just 248 total yards of offense and no touchdowns.

The running game was stagnant, with just 64 yards on 23 attempts. Aaron Rodgers (24 of 42 for 225 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions) seemed out of sync with his receivers and collected five sacks. Star wideout Garrett Wilson tied for the lead with eight targets, although that only resulted in five catches for 41 yards.

Unsurprisingly, NFL analysts and die-hard Jets fans couldn’t believe what they saw from the offense on Sunday:

And despite all that, the Jets were almost rescued by a Broncos team that was equally poor on offense (186 total yards, 60 yards through the air), giving the Jets a potential win on a silver platter late in the contest.

After Rodgers was sacked on a 4th-and-10 attempt with 1:46 left, the Broncos went three-and-out on the following drive and missed a 50-yard field goal. That gave the Jets the ball back at their own 40-yard line with 1:27 left and no timeouts and only needed a field goal to win.

A completion to Breece Hall and a defensive pass interference call gave the Jets the ball at the Denver 36-yard line and put them within field goal range. From there, however, the Jets only managed four more yards, and Zuerlein himself missed a 50-yard attempt, leaving the Broncos running out of time.

Yes, conditions on Sunday were not ideal given the bad weather. But Rodgers and the offense would be expected to at least score a touchdown or double-digit points. What happened on Sunday did not suggest a potential playoff team.

Both the Jets and Broncos are now 2-2 this season, with New York traveling to London to take on the red-hot Minnesota Vikings next weekend.
