At the moment or in lieu of the public request for the project of a new penitentiary center for 850 places in Loire-Authion, the Angers and Maine-et-Loire section of the Ligue des droits de l’Homme is organizing on September 21 of this year a round table on the subject of overpopulation in the carceral. Built in 1856, the Angers prison was affected by this phenomenon with 489 prisoners and 224 prisoners.

Organized at the Jacques Tati center in Belle-Beille, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., this round table with Dominique Simonnot, Director General of the Supreme Court of Freedom, Matthieu Quinquis, President of the Observatoire International des Prisons, Nathalie Tehio, President of La Ligue des droits de l’Homme, Pauline Pawlovsky, lawyer, co-responsible of the labor prison group of the LDH, and Jean Chevrollier, lawyer of the Barreau d’Angers.

This evening, the Ligue des droits de l’Homme was about “ They need to be aware of prison conditions, educate themselves on the impact on prison officials around the world, on the families of those incarcerated, on the operations within the prison and engage in a debate to find alternatives to “imprisonment by influencing public opinion.” ».
